Judge Andrew J. Hunt started service as a Fairborn Municipal Court Judge on January 1, 2024. Judge Hunt was raised in Beavercreek, and graduated with honors from both Wright State University and the University of Dayton School of Law.
Judge Hunt began his legal career in 2001 as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. In that capacity, he prosecuted adult felony offenders and juvenile delinquency matters, presented cases to the grand jury, and briefed/argued appeals.
In 2007, Judge Hunt joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio at Dayton. As an Assistant United States Attorney, he primarily prosecuted firearm, violent, and child pornography crimes. He was also assigned to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, working with federal agents to dismantle drug trafficking organizations operating in the Miami Valley and elsewhere. In 2017, the Department of Justice selected Judge Hunt to serve a six-month detail in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas at Laredo, where he prosecuted immigration offenses occurring along the U.S./Mexico border.
In 2021, Judge Hunt returned to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as Chief Trial Counsel, responsible for litigating the office’s more serious and complex criminal cases. Additionally, he developed crime reduction strategies with police, helped organize the pursuit of fugitives, and provided legal training for local law enforcement.
Over his career, Judge Hunt tried nearly 40 criminal cases to jury verdict, including murder, sexual assault, and domestic violence cases.
Judge Hunt is a member of the Beavercreek Rotary Club and has coached various youth basketball teams in the past.
